Hijab-wearing right does not come in Article 25 of the Constitution, Karnataka govt tells HC
Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court IN its eighth day of hearings Tuesday began hearing various petitions that challenge the hijab ban in schools across the state. Karnataka Advocate General Prabhuling Navadgi Tuesday argued that there isn't any restriction regarding wearing hijab within India and that reasonable limits are, subject to the discipline of institutions. In opposition to protesters Muslim students of Udupi district who questioned the ban on Hijab within schools, Navadgi said the right to wear a headscarf is a matter of 19(1)(A) is not Article 25 as has been claimed by petitioners.

Three persons were detained and nine others were taken into custody for the murder of the 26-year-old Bajrang Dal worker from the Karnataka district of Shivamogga earlier on Monday. Nine FIRs were registered against arson, rioting and the violation of CrPC within the district. Police are currently investigating the matter and are examining the background of the suspects, the Home minister Araga Jnanendra announced on Tuesday.

One of the latest cases brought against Harsha He was accused by police as being part of a mob who targeted Muslim trader within Shivamogga city on the third day of December of 2020 in the aftermath of an encounter between the community.
A case of assault has been in the pipeline against Harsha since the year 2017 at the Doddapet police station, as per police documents.
